Since March 2016, I have been a faculty member at University of Leeds, where I hold a University Academic Fellow (equivalent to Assistant Professor in US system) in Body Sensor Network for Healthcare and Robot between School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering and School of Mechanical Engineering. I received my Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2010. Upon completion of my Ph.D. degree, I then moved to Imperial College London working as a research associate for five and half years. In February 2015 (second round), I was also awarded a Catalonia TECNIOspring / Marie Sklodowska-Curie co-fund fellowship .

Nov 2018     Project REST: Reconfigurable lower limb Exoskeleton for effective Stroke Treatment in residential settings was funded by EPSRC.
Oct 2018     Feasibiltiy study Wearable Robots for Stroke Rehabilitation was funded by EPSRC-NIHR HTC Partnership Award Plus FundsTechnology Network Plus on Devices for Surgery and Rehabilitation.
Sep 2018     Dr. Zhang gave two talks at China-UK mental healthcare technologies worksop in Jinan and AI+Wearable 2018 for aging sub-forum in conjuction with China Wearable Computing Conference in Tianjin China
Aug 2018     Dr. Zhang joined the editoral board of "International Journal of Electronics"
July 2018     Our paper "Alterations of Muscle Synergies during Voluntary Arm Reaching Movement in Subacute Stroke Survivors at Different Levels of Impairment" has been accepted for publication at the Frontiers in Computational Neuroscience

I am constantly looking for passionate PhD students. If you are interested in a PhD in Body Sensor Network, Wearable Sensing and Wearable Robotics, please feel free to contact me. Meanwhile, University of Leeds offers excellent scholarship opportunities for UK/EU and overseas students, make sure you pay close attention to our university scholarship website.
Leeds Robotics are happy to support candidates to apply for fellowships from EPSRC, Royal Academy of Engineering, Royal Society (e.g. Newton International Fellowships), The Wellcome Trust, the Leverhulme Trust, and the European Union (Marie-Curie actions) to work in the general areas of Robotics, Autonomous Systems and Sensing. Please get in touch for informal discussions.
